Party Chat in Orbit allows up to 5 people to communicate privately through voice, video, text, and screen sharing within the virtual space, similar to a private conversation in a public setting.

Party Chat

Think of Party Chat as your way to chat privately in Orbit similar to being on your mobile phone in the real-world. It's a way to have more intimate conversations with up to five people, so you can have personal conversations around other users without worrying about others overhearing in public.

This way, you can discuss confidential information, share personal news, or just chat and stay in touch in Orbit without anyone else listening in.

Here's how to get the party started:

  1. Look for the menu icon in the top right corner of your screen.

  2. Click on it and find the Party Chat icon.

  3. Hit the "Create Party" button.

  4. Now, tap the "Invite to Party" button at the bottom of the panel or the "+" button in the party chat window.

You can invite up to 5 members to join your exclusive virtual hangout. It's perfect for those times when you want a more intimate conversations away from the public.

Communication Options:

Once you're in your Party Chat, you've got a bunch of ways to connect:

Voice Chat

  1. Find the microphone icon at the bottom left of the party chat window.

  2. Click it, and when it turns green, you're live! Your party can hear you crystal clear.

Video Chat

  1. Next to the mic icon, you'll see the camera icon.

  2. Click it, and boom - you're on camera when it turns green.

Text Chat

  1. Maximize your Party Chat window by clicking the square icon in the top right corner.

  2. Look for the text chat icon on the bottom left - it's the first one from the left.

  3. Click it, and when it's green, you're ready to type away.

  4. Just write your message and hit enter or the send button.

Text chat is super handy when you can't talk out loud or if you want to drop a link for everyone.

Screen Sharing:

Got something cool on your screen you want to share? Here's how:

  1. Make sure you're on a PC (sorry, mobile users!).

  2. Maximize that Party Chat window.

  3. Find the screen-share icon next to the camera icon.

  4. Click it and select your entire screen, a specific application window, or even a particular browser tab and click "Share". The icon will turn green, and boom! Your party members can now see your screen.

This is perfect for showing off your latest project, watching videos together, or even collaborating on work stuff.

Settings:

Orbit gives you the power to control your virtual environment:

  1. Click the menu icon in the top right, then select the Party icon.

  2. You'll see a list of every Party chat member.

  3. Next to each name, you've got three icons:

    • A chat bubble: Click this to hide text messages from specific members.

    • A video camera: Click this to turn off individual video feeds.

    • A microphone: Click this to mute their audio.

    • A computer icon: Click this to hide someoneโ€™s screen share

  4. At the bottom, you can:

    • Adjust the volume of your party members

    • Mute all party chat members while still hearing public sounds

Benefits

  • Privacy: You can talk privately with up to 5 people, like being on a phone surrounded by people, so you can talk to your friends secretly and the public users surrounding your avatar will not hear them.

  • Trust: You can build trust by showing yourself with your facial expressions and body language through video.

  • Sharing: You can share your screen or a live video of your surroundings to enhance communication so you can show a website or content thatโ€™s relevant to your conversation.

  • Focus: You can concentrate on the conversation without distractions from other members next to your avatar in the virtual space, especially if you mute all of the public players in the party chat settings.

  • Stay Connected: You can move around separately in different areas within the virtual space and still stay connected with members in the party chat.
